This Week’s Finds

We had quite a few interesting finds this week. Jim was OOO so this week’s notes will be brief.

Wigner 3 and 6 j Symbols

Michael presented an application of the Wigner symbols in amplitudes research. [1] [2]

Math Survey

Joshua discussed a fun, math-community survey that explored conventions and norms, e.g. “Is 0 prime?”. [3]

Focus Session:

Reading material review.

Group Centers

Fruitful discussion around the centers of groups and their applications in quantum mechanics. For instance, if the Hamiltonian is in the center, then the system has time independence. [4]

Reading Group:

For next week’s reading we aim to be complete:

  • Lee: 1.3 – 1.5
  • Dummit & Foote:  2.4 – 2.5

Interesting or Relevant Talks:

  • Math colloquium (extremal BH)
