The Mathematical Aspects of Physics seminar series, or MAP chat for short, is an informal, pedagogical series that explores the mathematical tools of modern theoretical physics.
The series is led by and aimed at graduate students, and will provide an opportunity for all interested students to discuss and appreciate the depth of mathematical structures that appear frequently in research, but are seldom discussed in courses. For participants from physics backgrounds, the series offers a chance to enhance rigorous understanding of the mathematics underlying common constructs. For participants from math backgrounds, the series offers a change to see how various areas of mathematics are applied to a variety of theoretical physics problems.
All students are welcome to attend, our current schedule is 4:00 – 5:00pm ET in Osmond 202. If you would like to be added to our email list, please reach out to the organizers.
